FCC NEWS & INFO

NCE Settlement Still Possible

1/28/08 The FCC received few settlement requests by January.  The good news is the staff is still processing requests (in about a month).  Processing of unsettled Mutually Exclusive (MX) applications will not start for one to two years.  Many MX "pools" overlap into vast matrices with up to 200 applications.  Ultimately the FCC will dismiss all overlapping applications except one.  So it is important to give us a call for assistance with MX settlement as soon as possible.

NCE WINDOW - CLOSED!

We have closed the window to new applicants.  We will accept a few "emergency" late filers. The rates for late filers are $600 for the frequency search - $4,400 for the application.  While we will accept a few late arrivals, you will need to contact us as soon as possible!  Please contact us today if you plan to participate in this filing window.  This may be your last chance to obtain a new NCE FM station for your community.  Don't let this opportunity pass you by.   The last filing opportunity for NCE was more than seven years ago.

OCTOBER 2007 FILING WINDOW ANNOUNCED OFFICIALLY!

UPDATE! - 4-4-07 - NCE FM Filing Window PN - Window to Open on October 12, 2007. Noncommercial educational FM application filing window to open Friday October 12, 2007 through Friday, October 19, 2007, for channels in the reserved band (Channels 201 through 220, or 88.1 MHz through 91.9 MHz). NCE applicants with new or major change applications that were already pending prior to the April 2000 freeze and are not cut off must be electronically amended to include additional information or face dismissal.

Jim Bradshaw reports that the purpose of this window is to allow:

(a) any interested parties to file applications for CPs for new NCE FM stations utilizing frequencies in the traditional reserved band (Channels 201-220); and (b) parties whose applications for new NCE FM stations were not subject to an "A" cutoff PN by April 2000 to amend their proposals by completing the revised FCC Form 340. Applications for new NCE FM stations on non-reserved band frequencies (which were reserved for NCE use in 2004) will be subject to a separate filing window.
