MultiDyne bundles SilverBack fiber kits for cinema cameras

MultiDyne packages SilverBack fiber camera kits

TV production crews that want digital cinema cameras in a live multi-camera show can now buy the whole fiber chain from MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems in one box. The company has introduced complete camera kits built on its SilverBack Series, with versions for the Sony VENICE, Sony BURANO and Canon EOS C400.

Cinema cameras are not built with the SMPTE fiber connection that studio and field production cameras use, so getting one onto a broadcast truck or flypack normally means adapters plus a collection of separately sourced cables, connectors and mounts. MultiDyne said the kits put those pieces together and cost substantially less than buying the components one at a time. The company has sold SilverBack gear for adapting cinema cameras to SMPTE fiber workflows since 2012.

Each kit is matched to its camera. According to MultiDyne, the VENICE package adds the serial data cabling needed for camera control, while the BURANO and C400 packages include camera-specific mounting plates that ease installation and keep key connections reachable. Every kit ships with the relevant cables, connectors and documentation.

The core of the system is the SVB-1, a shallow, lightweight 1RU base station that supplies fiber connectivity and power. Paired with camera-mounted SilverBack adapters such as the SilverBack-V, it carries video, audio, control and return signals over fiber. MultiDyne is aiming the compact base station at flypacks, mobile units and installations short on rack space.

MultiDyne said kit contents and pricing are available at Booth 856 at NAB Show New York at the Javits Center, October 21-22.
