KTVY-LD: channel 6 grant, Boise, ID

It was granted before the NCE FM translator window opens on November 4, 2026, so translator applications on 88.1 to 91.9 MHz near it now have to protect it (47 CFR 74.1205).

Why channel 6 matters

  • TV channel 6 (82-88 MHz) sits right below the reserved FM band. An FM translator on channels 201 to 220 (88.1 to 91.9 MHz) near a channel 6 station has to keep its interfering contour off the TV station's 47 dBu contour (47 CFR 74.1205); LPFM stations have their own channel 6 spacings (47 CFR 73.825).
  • The NCE FM translator window opens November 4, 2026. FCC staff has said pending channel 6 applications need not be protected in a window application. One granted before the window opens must be: the translator applicant needs extra steps, and a grant can keep a new translator permit from being granted.
  • So this page lists every channel 6 grant as it happens, and every channel 6 application still pending.

Planning a translator or LPFM near a channel 6 station?

Nexus Broadcast checks every channel 6 station and pending application in its translator and LPFM studies, and prepares the showing when a site needs one. Every study runs on RF Navigator, our own broadcast engineering software.

From the FCC's LMS public database as of October 20, 2026, updated every morning. Contours are the FCC contour API's 47 dBu F(50,50) service contour from the filing's ERP and antenna height, drawn non-directional; towns are incorporated places of 1,000 people or more (Census 2024 estimates). Not a product of the FCC; check LMS and run a full study before you rely on it.
